ESTEBAN ZECCHIN

Esteban Zecchin, Ph.D.

Esteban is passionate about understanding structural behavior through the application of fundamental principles. He enjoys performing analyses and calculations as much as getting his hands on the structure in question, which explains why he was drawn to forensic engineering.

His previous professional experience includes designing steel and concrete bridges and sports facilities. As a graduate researcher, he worked on the proposed modifications to the AASHTO fatigue provisions for cross-frames in steel bridges and the development of internally redundant steel box straddle caps through full-scale testing and finite element analyses.

Esteban graduated with his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the National University of Cordoba in Argentina. After working for three years for a design firm in Argentina, he attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he received both his M.S. and Ph.D. He is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).

Outside the engineering field, Esteban enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, riding his bike around Austin, and watching soccer: his beloved River Plate and the Argentine national team.
